Why Draw? with Andrew Schlussel
A informal talk at The Crypt Gallery with artist Andrew Schlussel as part of The Sketchbook Challenge exhibition.
"When you draw, you take infinitely complex reality and express it in shapes that are recognisable to anyone. A pretty picture is a by-product; the real outcome is the understanding gained by the keen observation required to create it. Drawing is a way to truly connect to the world, and when drawing people, a way to understand them more deeply than any passing glance or polite conversation allows"
Andrew shares his personal drawing practice and the lessons learned through it, illustrating the value it brings to industry-leading creatives responsible for some of the biggest animated feature films.
